A Social Event

Our lunch clubs offer the chance to socialise and to enjoy a hot lunch with friends on a weekly basis.  Lunch Clubs currently take many different forms but all of them are concerned with promoting the wellbeing of older or lonely people. For many active older people, this may be their first contact with the Village Hall and so these events also act as a gateway to a whole range of other courses and services that we provide.

Quality Food Chosen By You

As with many social occasions, the meal is simply the nucleus of other activities. However, it is important that the food is of a standard that keeps you coming back for more. This is why at the beginning of my own tenure we carried out a survey of our customers to find out what they wanted and expected. Surprisingly, our refined menus are based on their own requests – some of which is simple and basic food that they may not want to cook on their own at home, but delight in as part of a social event such as this. What’s more important is that we continue to listen and learn and will introduce new meals based on a consortium of opinions from those that really matter – You. These are prepared under the highest five star rating available for kitchen hygiene.

Service with more than a smile

The two course meals are served to you at your table, where you can sit with existing friends or simply make new ones. Tables vary in size based on your needs. As well as the food, however, you get all the condiments, water and tea or coffee as you would expect from the best of restaurants. Throughout we create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, often to the dulcet tones of light music. We choose which venue to use based on the number of people booked for that day – not too full but also to avoid ‘rattling around like a pea in a pod’

Bingo Fun

After lunch we will have a little fun, often playing four rounds of bingo with prizes for a line and full house. These may just cover the cost of your meal and provide a ‘little something’ to go home with.

From the staff and volunteers that serve right through to the guests that attend, this is a very pleasurable afternoon open to everyone.
