News Release – LOCAL AUTHOR TO GIVE OVER 55’s PRESENTATION

Local author, Sasha Lane, has agreed to give a talk at the Mapplewell and Staincross Village Hall Over 55’s Group on the 19th of September. This is to provide an open and frank insight into the creation of her trilogy of books, Girl Conflicted, Girl Unhinged and Girl Unconventional.

Sasha, 37, said; “I have done a number of book signings and presentations but this meeting is an opportunity for me to talk openly about my journey from both a creative and practical stand point. I will talk about how this trilogy first evolved and how I was effectively compelled to put pen to paper to share my stories right the way through to getting the first book published.

“I’m a firm believer that everyone has at least one story to tell and, whilst for many it will simply be an opportunity to question me about my books and my own thoughts process, if I can encourage even one of the group members to take up the challenge and write their own story and get it into print, then it’s worth every minute.

Sasha Lane’s  three books, written between 2014 and July 2017, cover the social ups and downs of Emma Storey, a ‘thirty-something’ woman battling with the emotional whirlwind that is life in South Yorkshire today. Described by Sasha as the ultimate ‘Chick-lit’ trilogy they are already available in both printed and e-book format from most online and retail outlets.

Nick Hibberd, Village Hall Manager and responsible for arranging the presentation, said: “We are always looking for new ideas for the group and knowing Sasha personally, I thought this could be a unique opportunity for something a little different.”

“Sasha lives locally and her novels have been strongly influenced by the local community. And whilst the main character in the story is a totally fictional character the stories are set in South Yorkshire and will be relevant to our audience,” he added.

The Mapplewell and Staincross over 55’s Social Group meet every Tuesday evening between 7pm and 9pm the Village Hall, Darton Lane and is open to any new members. There is a £2:00 membership fee and then £3:00 per week subscription fee to cover the cost of the hall and any entertainment. Non- members are welcome as guest visitors for a £3:00 admission fee.
