News Release – ‘Come Dancing’ To Mapplewell & Staincross Village Hall

With the announcement that Strictly Come Dancing will return to our screens on Saturday the 9th of September, Mapplewell and Staincross Village Hall has ‘pipped them to the post’ by one day by announcing that their own Ballroom Dancing function is to take place on Friday the 8thof September.

“It is purely coincidence that our Ballroom Dancing event is being launched just one day prior to the BBC spectacular. Having only been in the post for a matter of weeks it was one of the functions that I had decided to reintroduce from day one. I believe that there is a big demand for an affordable venue with a good dance floor for the budding Fred Astaires and Ginger Rogers in this area. However, it should be a good social event even for those wanting to watch and learn.

“I’m no Tess Daly or Claudia Winkleman,” he quipped, “but for three hours I’m confident we can encourage dancers, young and old, to put on their make-up, don their glittery costumes and take to the dance floor in a whirl of sequins and colour. And as Strictly Come Dancing looks set to start dominating the television ratings for another year, it is hoped that we can provide an outlet for any ‘frustrated dancers’ currently with nowhere to go,” Nick added.

Not appearing at Mappewell and Staincross, this year’s line-up for the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, includes: Alexandra Burke, Debbie McGee and Jonnie Peacock, Chizzy Akudolu, Susan Calman, Aston Merrygold, Simon Rimmer, Joe McFadden, Reverend Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford, Davood Ghadami and Mollie King.

It has also been confirmed that the late Sir Bruce Forsyth will be honoured during the launch of the BBC’s show with a ‘heartfelt’ dance from Strictly‘s own professional dancers.

The line up for the first of the Mapplewell and Staincross Village Hall events still has to be announced but for those wanting to take part, it’s in the main hall and starts at  12:00; running for three hours. There will be a £3 entry fee payable on the door. Refreshments and afternoon tea will also be available through the Village Hall café for a small charge.
